A cross-functional Deloitte team, led by Frankfurt-based Deloitte Legal FSI Partner Hannes Bracht, successfully advised Hubject Financial Services GmbH („Hubject Financial Services“), a subsidiary of Hubject GmbH („Hubject“), in a licensing procedure under the German Payment Services Act (Zahlungsdiensteaufsichtsgesetz, ZAG) (see Hubject erhält BaFin-Lizenz für eMobilität Payment Services). The license was granted in May 2025.
Deloitte Legal (Banking & Finance/Financial Supervisory Law) and Deloitte (Strategy, Risk & Transactions; Technology & Transformation) comprehensively supported Hubject Financial Services GmbH during the entire licensing procedure. The licensing procedures is one of the first of its kind focusing on payment processing in the e-mobility sector in both Germany and Europe. Hubject and Deloitte Legal had already analyzed the regulatory background of payments in the e-mobility sector in a joint white paper (see Payment Services in eMobility).
„We would like to thank Hannes Bracht and his team for their confident support during Hubject Financial Services’ license application. Especially, we like to mention the outstanding expertise and professional project management provided by Deloitte Legal.“ says Tobias Friedrich, CFO/CRO Hubject Financial Services.
„We are proud to have supported Hubject, a globally leading intermediary in the field of eRoaming.” explains Hannes Bracht, Partner Deloitte Legal. “The successful license procedure for Hubject Financial Services underscores the importance of payment services regulation in various areas of the real economy.“
