Second AI Act Milestone as of August 2025 & Codes of Practice für GPAI

August 2, 2025, marks the second milestone in the gradual entry into force of the AI Act. In addition to the full applicability of the provisions on governance, enforcement, and sanctions, in particular, the provisions for General Purpose AI (GPAI) are now applicable. The GPAI Code of Practice recently published by the European Commission offers providers of such AI systems and models guidance on implementing the GPAI-specific provisions.

Gender pay gap in sustainability reporting

In recent years, it developed as a key indicator for assessing gender equality in companies and is now an essential component of sustainability reporting. It enables investors to integrate negative impacts and social risks in their investment process. For calculating the gender pay gap, companies are faced with new requirements around data availability, system integration and internal processes.

Legal Developments in Mexico and Germany 2025/2026

On 26 August 2025, we held a webcast (in spanish language) focusing on legal issues relevant to Mexico and Germany, with a particular emphasis on regulatory, political and economic aspects.

Our specialists highlighted the new German government's key initiatives and the latest corporate law developments at the German and EU levels. They also discussed the economic outlook for both regions for the remainder of 2025 and early 2026.

These topics formed the basis for strengthening trade relations between Mexico, Germany and the European Union, particularly in light of the challenges these parties are currently facing in the complex geopolitical climate.
