Deloitte Legal has advised Quoniam Asset Management on entering the actively managed ETF market

With the support of Deloitte Legal and Deloitte Consulting, Quoniam Asset Management GmbH, a leading systematic asset manager and subsidiary of the Union Investment Group, has launched its first actively managed exchange-traded funds (ETFs). This paves the way for further innovative fund products in Europe. Launched under the “UniActive Q” label, these Irish funds mark Quoniam's entry into Europe's rapidly expanding active ETF segment. The ETFs are listed on the Xetra trading platform of Deutsche Börse, among others, and are approved for distribution in several European jurisdictions.

The advice focused on drafting and negotiating key cooperation agreements, particularly with the fund's management company, including distribution agreements and the investment management agreement. Deloitte Legal's Investment Management & Funds Law team supported Quoniam in its roles as fund sponsor and portfolio manager, by providing advice on contractual, regulatory and IP/IT issues. The Deloitte Consulting team, led by Thorsten Heymann (Partner, Strategy, Risk & Transactions), contributed its extensive experience in structuring, planning the market entry, and the operational implementation of ETF products.
