Legal Breakfast: Reducing labour costs and implementing restructuring in Germany and China: What companies should keep in mind

Due to the current global economic climate, many companies are faced with the task of restructuring, scaling back or ceasing operations entirely in Germany or China. Restrictions on operations, closures, measures to reduce labour costs and downsize the workforce, and the repatriation of expatriate employees all require a precise understanding of both legal systems.

Our interactive workshop offers practical insights into these systems and provides an opportunity for open discussion. We will explain the key legal differences and similarities regarding reducing labour costs and restructuring in Germany and China, using concrete, real-world examples. You will learn how to identify legal risks early on, develop viable action plans and avoid costly mistakes.

The workshop will be led by Dr Charlotte Sander, a partner at Deloitte Legal in Hanover and an experienced labour law attorney; Alexander Fischer, a partner at Deloitte Legal in Frankfurt with 20 years of professional experience in China; and Xinyi Wang, a Chinese attorney and Deloitte Legal Counsel in Frankfurt.

To facilitate an in-depth and interactive exchange of experiences, the number of participants is limited. The workshop will be conducted in German, but questions and comments can also be made in English and Chinese.
